MJF In Haiti

Event Date:
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Location:
Haiti

MJF just returned from Haiti where we were directing a documentary on child slavery and abuse with our partner Plan Canada.

It is the story of four Canadians who are working in Haiti, trying to improve the lives of children across the country. The four characters are a Montreal Police officer, a Canadian pop star, George, a Haitian filmmaker and a Plan Haiti staff member.

Plan Canada funds Media programs for Haitian youth, developing the next generation of story-tellers. The youth wrote a story of a young child slave who had been abused throughout her live, "The Misery of Silfiz".

MJF worked with the youth and directed their film over a 12 hour period. These pictures are of my time there. The film shall live in a Liverpool, UK museum, dedicated to the 200 year abolishment of slavery.
